Sustainable crop production in Kazakhstan increasingly depends on efficient agricultural land use under conditions of agrarian transformation, urbanization pressure, labor outflow, and environmental constraints. A combination of comparative, systems-based, statistical, economic-mathematical, and spatial analytical approaches was used to classify existing land-use assessment methods and evaluate their applicability to regional agricultural conditions. Statistical indicators, socio-economic characteristics, land-resource data, and GIS-based information were analyzed, with particular attention to Almaty Region and the Ili and Talgar districts as contrasting examples of agricultural development. The results showed that an integrated analytical framework combining econometric, optimization, agroecological, and GIS-based methods provides the most informative basis for assessing land-use efficiency, sustainability risks, and production potential. The study concludes that integrating socio-economic and spatial analysis can support more effective agricultural planning and resource allocation in Kazakhstan, with practical value for crop scientists, land-use planners, and decision-makers involved in sustainable agricultural development.
